The machine is used to compare the resistance to abrasion of clothes with different dye fastness or finish. It can also be used to compare the effect of cloth against abrasion. The wear and abasion tester is designed so that the specimen under test is subjected to flexing from all directions. The pattern traced by the abrading head is the well known Lissajous figure.
